We need volunteers to help at the information booth at the Farmer’s Market. The Farmer’s Market is every Saturday from June to October from 7:00 am – 12:00 pm. New Castle Main Street has been providing volunteers to work in the information booth, help with kids games and help corral the wagons the shoppers use to carry their purchases and kids.
We need volunteers on Saturdays for two and a half hour time slots. Please email Carrie Barrett at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know if you’d be interested in helping. It’s a really fun activity and a great event for downtown!

On Monday, March 16, New Castle Main Street had a fundraiser to raise money for free WiFi downtown. With almost 200 people in attendance we raised over $10,000.00 to pay for the initial set up costs and maintenance for the WiFi! Rowdy Roddy Piper from WWE fame was at Primo’s inaugural event. Mr. Piper spoke about the power and importance of community. New Castle has a rich history to be proud of and we are looking forward to writing a strong future. The stronger we grow together the more power we have to mold our town into the place we want to live, work and be with our family and friends.

New Castle Main Street held their second community outreach meeting Wednesday, February 25 at the New Castle Henry County Public Library. The meeting began with newly formed subcommittees under the Main Street organization. These subcommittees covered specific projects which include district signage, downtown cleanup, the farmer’s market, parking signage, citizens corner remodeling, flower pots, downtown trees and fundraising. The organization made signup sheets available for those who wanted to sign up for a committee. If you would like to sign up for a committee, please email email@example.com
The Main Street group is also becoming a 501(c)3 organization which will exempt the group from federal income taxes and increase opportunity for grants.
The upcoming fundraising event for downtown WiFi was also discussed. The event will be hosted at the Primo restaurant on Broad Street on March 16th at 7:00 pm. Participants will have a chance to speak with TV personality Rowdy Roddy Piper accompanied with appetizers and drinks. The goal is to raise $8,000.00 to pay for the initial installation plus maintenance which will be provided by Solutions Unlimited. General admission tickets are $75.00 per person or $125.00 per couple and can be purchased by emailing New Castle Main Street at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Another topic during the meeting was the expansion the New Castle and Henry County’s trail system. David Nantz brought up the possibility of expanding towards town from the YMCA. This plan would cross Broad Street through 15th Street, and continue down Cherry Street where the old train tracks have been removed. From there the trail would go out towards Knightstown and connect with their trail system. Bike lanes would be incorporated alongside the streets of New Castle.
Other topics included new light poles down Broad Street with attached speakers; clean up after community events, expanding New Castle Main Street’s presence and a historical walk through downtown New Castle.
